International Workshop of AOP8 "Parallel Analysis of Satellite Data in Operational Cyclone Monitoring"
The International Workshop of AOP8 "Parallel Analysis of Satellite Data in Operational Cyclone Monitoring" of Working Group on Meteorology (WGM) was successfully held in Shanghai, China from May 29th to 30th, 2024. The workshop was dedicated to operational TC monitoring and aimed to enhance regional early warning capabilities. The event was attended by 12 overseas representatives from 7 TC members from Korea, Hong Kong China, Macao China, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam, along with nearly 10 domestic representatives from the National Meteorological Center (NMC), the National Satellite Meteorological Center (NSMC), and the Shanghai Typhoon Institute. The scientific sections featured keynote speeches and panel discussions by experts and researchers from the Korean Satellite Meteorological Center, NSMC, Nanjing Meteorological Innovation Research Institute of China Meteorological Academy, and Sun Yat-sen University.
The workshop was instrumental in enhancing the application effects of multi-source satellite data in precise typhoon monitoring. It proposed targeted application demonstration strategies for different satellite data, which will be crucial for improving monitoring techniques. The scientific discussions underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation in TC monitoring. After the workshop certificates were delivered to participants in person.
